What you will do?

As a mandatory port of call for the entire Spanish fleet, Havana was once the key to the New World. The constant threat of corsairs and pirates compelled colonial authorities to fortify the city. With us, you will discover the wonders of one of the most well-preserved colonial fort systems in the world. The fortresses in Havana were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1982. To begin with, we will provide you a general introduction to Havana’s history at the Arms Square. You will also see the remains of the ancient city wall, and visit two impressive fortresses: Castle of the Royal Guard and El Morro Castle. The former is the oldest fortress in the country, and today houses the Navigation Museum. The latter will show you the story of the Seizing of Havana by the British in 1762, among others. Moreover, we will visit the outskirts of La Cabaña where you will learn about the Missile Crisis of 1962. Finally, we will go to the Havana Christ to enjoy one of the more fascinating views of the Cuban capital.

In this tour you will not only learn about the colonial past of Cuba and the fortresses in Havana but also about our modern society. Once we appreciate the unique views of Havana city from El Morro and El Cristo, you will get in the touch with the concept of the city stock in time. Thus, you will understand the sui generis charm of Havana and how important it is for us protecting the heritage we have.
